Evangelia Adamou is a Researcher at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and is authorized to direct research at Inalco. She serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Language (2022–2024).
Her research focuses on endangered languages, particularly language contact and bilingualism, combining corpus linguistics with psycholinguistic experimental methods. She has conducted fieldwork in the Balkans (Romani, Balkan Slavic) and Mexico (Ixcatec, Romani), emphasizing open scholarship via resources like the Pangloss collection and CorTypo database.

She supervises postdoctoral and doctoral students in topics spanning Romani language repertoires, language documentation in Colombia, bilingualism in Mesoamerica, and syntactic phenomena in Rhodopean dialects.
Her work intersects with linguistic preservation, sociolinguistics, and historical language shifts, particularly in Slavic and Oto-Manguean language communities.
