Evan Epstein is the founding Executive Director of the UC Center for Business Law San Francisco and an Adjunct Professor at UC Law SF, specializing in corporate governance. He concurrently serves as a Lecturer in Management at Stanford Graduate School of Business (2025 Spring Quarter). His roles span academic leadership, corporate advisory work, and governance research. He previously led the Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Center for Corporate Governance at Stanford (2009–2017) and practiced corporate law in Chile. He founded Pacifica Global, a corporate governance advisory firm.
Education: Law Degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2002), LL.M. in Corporate Governance from Stanford Law School (2005), and exchange at Sciences-Po Paris. He holds adjunct and visiting faculty roles at multiple institutions, including a part-time professorship at the University of Chile (2011–2022).
Research focuses on startup governance, boardroom dynamics, and venture capital litigation. He created the VC-Backed Board Academy and publishes the Boardroom Governance Newsletter/Podcast with 1,000+ subscribers. His 2023 NACD Directorship 100™ award recognizes his governance leadership. He chairs the Chile California Council and advises on cross-border corporate relations.
Teaching includes a Stanford MBA course on corporate governance featuring guest speakers like Sue Siegel (GE Ventures), Teresa Briggs (ServiceNow board), and Nora Denzel (AMD board). His Startup Litigation Digest tracks high-profile cases like CaaStle and GameOn frauds. Current projects include AI governance frameworks and executive education programs.
