Eva Tilly

Eva Tilly is a Lecturer in Jazz Piano, Practical Piano Playing, and Latin Combo at the University of Music Würzburg (Hochschule für Musik Würzburg), where she has taught since 2013. She also leads the Latin Combo courses from 2019 onward and is the founder and director of the renowned salsa orchestra “Salsamanía.”

Education

• 1985–1990: Studied piano (major) and jazz piano (minor) at the Hermann Zilcher Conservatory in Würzburg.
• Advanced studies and master classes in Brazil (Escola de arte e musica, Rio de Janeiro), Amsterdam, Puerto Rico and Cuba.

Research & Artistic Focus

Eva’s work spans jazz piano performance, Latin music pedagogy and innovative crossover projects. She integrates Afro-Cuban and Brazilian styles into classical piano training, and explores the fusion of Mozartian themes with Latin rhythms, exemplified by her 2021 BR-televised project “Mozart meets Latin.”

She continues to perform internationally with Salsamanía and other ensembles, releasing the CD The Offbeat of Hearts in 2018.

Teaching & Outreach

• 1991–2021: Piano, jazz piano and improvisation teacher, Schweinfurt Music School; founded the school’s jazz department and jazz combo.
• 2002–present: Same subjects at Würzburg Singing and Music School.
• Regular workshop leader for jazz, improvisation and Latin music, including Hessian Women’s Music Week.

Performance Highlights

• Extensive touring with Salsamanía across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Jordan, Spain, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
• Collaborations with Mario Hernández Morejón, Lukmil Pérez and Yaqueline Castellanos.
• Numerous radio and television appearances and CD productions.
