Eva-Maria Windberger is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Humanities, Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, University of Luxembourg. She joined in September 2024, focusing on British East and South East Asian theatre, digital performance, and (trans)cultural identity. She co-edits two book projects with Judith Neder (TU Dresden) and collaborates with Dr. Britta Colligs (Trier) on academic writing retreats and literary studies colloquia.

Her research combines literary analysis with empowerment theory, examining contemporary British fiction (especially David Mitchell), postcolonial literature, migration narratives, and interdisciplinary approaches to British-Chinese cultures. She has published on these topics, including her 2023 monograph The Poetics of Empowerment in David Mitchell’s Novels (Routledge) and open-access contributions.
At Trier University, Eva’s work earned her two awards: the 2018 Graduate Centre Publication Award and the 2021 Freundeskreis Trierer Universität Prize for her PhD thesis on empowerment in Mitchell’s novels. She also co-organizes academic events for early-career researchers and has participated in international collaborations.
