About
Dr. Eva Jodat serves as the Acting Department Head of Functional Materials and Components at the Fundamentals of Electrochemistry (IET-1) department within the Institute of Energy Technologies (IET) at Forschungszentrum Jülich.
Her educational background includes:
- Chemistry studies at the Technical University of Clausthal
- PhD research focused on synthesis of thiophene-based materials as precursors for photoelectric materials
- Post-doctoral work on polymeric semiconductors at HC Starck Clevious GmbH, resulting in a patent application
- Experience at Projektträger Jülich with strategy-oriented research funding competitions
Dr. Jodat specializes in Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) technologies, Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) systems, electrolysis processes, CO2 conversion methods, and advanced electrochemical testing. Her research focuses on developing materials and processes for sustainable energy applications, with particular emphasis on hydrogen production and carbon utilization technologies that support Germany's energy transition goals.
She leads major research initiatives including the H2-Giga projects Deriel, Segiwa & AEM-direkt, and the Kopernikus-related project Power-2-Value-Chemicals. These projects represent significant contributions to hydrogen technology development and value chain creation in the energy sector.
