Prof. Eva Hornecker chairs the Human Computer Interaction group in the Faculty of Media at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, where she leads the HCI master program and serves as Vice-Dean for Research. Her research explores social aspects of interaction with technologies beyond traditional desktop interfaces.
Education: Dipl.Inform, Dr.-Ing from Technical University of Darmstadt. Postdoctoral research at University of Cambridge, Sussex University, and University of Colorado.
Research focuses on social and collaborative interactions mediated by technology, including tangible interfaces, mobile devices, embodied interaction, and interactive museum installations. Current projects include GROOVE (improving virtual social interactions) and FluidData UX (data physicalization).
Publications consistently examine social computing, human-agent interaction, and user experience design. Recent work investigates how people interact with robots and virtual agents across different contexts.
Collaborates on interdisciplinary projects combining media architecture, interactive costumes, and augmented learning systems. Leads international research teams including DFG-funded projects on social aspects of computing.
