Eva E. Metalios, MD is a Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Medical Director for Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center's Wakefield Ambulatory Care Center. She serves as Associate Program Director for the Montefiore Internal Medicine Residency Program and has dedicated two decades to providing care, developing programs, and conducting research focused on torture survivors and asylum seekers in the Bronx.
Her research interests center on human rights advocacy, musculoskeletal medicine, and women's health interventions. She founded the Bronx Human Rights Clinic and collaborates with HealthRight International to evaluate foreign-born torture survivors applying for asylum in the United States.
Dr. Metalios' recent publications focus on clinical forensic evaluations of asylum seekers and training methodologies for healthcare providers working with torture survivors. She has developed evidence-based approaches to integrate human rights advocacy into primary care settings.
