About
Dr. Eva Bittrich serves as Head of the Ellipsometry of Organic Thin Films group at the Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research Dresden within the Advanced Analysis of Macromolecular Structures department. Her research program focuses on advanced characterization of polymer thin films using specialized optical techniques.
Her primary research domains include:
- Smart biointerfaces and in-situ ellipsometry in aqueous environments
- Swelling and adhesion behavior of polymer brushes and hydrogel films
- Development of multi-responsive and antifouling surfaces
- Morphology analysis of organic solar cell thin films
- Molecular orientation, nanophase separation, and optical properties characterization
- Advanced X-ray (GIWAXS, XRR, XRD) and IR (IRRAS, ATR-FTIR) methodologies
Currently leading the M-ERA.NET STEEP-UP subproject (2023-2026) investigating intermolecular interactions in novel absorber molecules for organic solar cells, Dr. Bittrich has previously contributed to significant research initiatives including the EFRE TFE40PV project (2019-2022) on thin-film encapsulation technologies and the BMBF InspirA project (2017-2020) focused on molecular self-assembly in organic photovoltaics.
Her collaborative work involves industry partners such as Heliatek GmbH and Fraunhofer FEP, as well as academic institutions including University Jena and SYNTHON Chemicals.
