Eun Jung Chae
Assistant Professor · Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
California State University, Long BeachAbout
Dr. Eun Jung Chae is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at California State University, Long Beach. She specializes in numerical, theoretical, and physical modeling of single/multiphase flows in smart/adaptive propulsion systems, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), and energy conversion systems.
Her research emphasizes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) simulations of flexible lifting bodies, focusing on aeroelastic response, stability, and flow-induced vibrations. She developed a novel FSI coupling model to analyze stability boundaries and instability modes in adaptive systems.
Current projects investigate aerodynamic benefits of morphing wings for aircraft adaptation to off-design conditions through combined numerical simulations and experiments.
