Eugene M. Chudnovsky

Eugene M. Chudnovsky is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the City University of New York (CUNY) and the Graduate Center of CUNY. His career spans theoretical physics research, teaching, and extensive advocacy for human rights in science.

• Roles: Scholar at Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (1998–2011); Co-Chair of the Committee of Concerned Scientists (since 2011); Director of the Program for Refugee Scientists; Chair of the Committee on Human Rights of Scientists of the New York Academy of Sciences (2005–2008).

Research: Focuses on magnetism, superconductivity, quantum tunneling of magnetic moments, dynamics of magnetic flux in superconductors, molecular nanomagnets, skyrmions, magnetic/superconducting qubits, graphene, and microwave-solid interactions. His work has been funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, and Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
