Ethan S. Wiener

Ethan S. Wiener, MD, is a Clinical Associate Professor in both the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He serves as Director of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Chief of Service for the KiDS ED at the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Emergency Services. His clinical focus includes pediatric emergency care, clinical pathway optimization, and healthcare operations management.

Dr. Wiener earned his MD from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996, followed by a pediatrics residency at Children's Hospital (1999) and dual fellowships in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (Children's Hospital, 2005) and Community Child Health (Albert Einstein College of Medicine, 2000). He is board-certified in Pediatrics (1999) and Pediatric Emergency Medicine (2009).

His research emphasizes improving patient safety during emergency-to-inpatient transfers, mental health screening protocols, and optimizing care for acute conditions like facial palsy. He actively contributes to operational strategies enhancing communication and standardization in emergency settings.

Dr. Wiener advocates for underserved populations and has led seminars on healthcare communication. His work integrates clinical practice, education, and systems improvement to advance pediatric emergency care delivery.
