Esther Susanna Shoemaker is a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Associate affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa and the Centre for Global Public Health at the University of Manitoba. She collaborates with the Uttar Pradesh India Health Action Trust, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to evaluate maternal and child health interventions.

Her publications (2019) span topics such as HIV care alignment with chronic care models, homelessness health interventions, and maternity care practices. She has contributed to studies in global health, gender and health, and social determinants of health.
She is affiliated with the C.T. Lamont Primary Health Care Research Centre, Centre for Global Public Health, and ICES. Her work includes collaborations in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, and Ottawa, Canada.
