Erlend Myklebust is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas, University of Oslo. He holds a BA and MPhil in Classical languages from UiO and has studied Irish philology. His research focuses on Latin language/grammar, medieval Irish Latin literature, and post-Classical Latin usage. He currently works on the project New Signs of Antiquity, led by Prof. Han Lamers, exploring Latin’s role in Fascist Italy’s public culture.
Teaching includes courses such as LAT1402 – Cicero, LAT1404 – Latin Epic, and LAT2105 – Latin Grammar II (all in Norwegian).
His Master’s thesis analyzed the relationship between the Irish text Immram Maíle Dúin and the Latin Navicatio Brendani, reflecting broader interests in Latin-vernacular interactions, especially Irish contexts.
He contributes to interdisciplinary projects bridging classical studies and modern linguistic analysis, emphasizing Latin’s evolving roles across historical periods.
