Erin Silva is Professor in Plant Pathology at UW–Madison, focusing on organic agriculture systems. Her research examines cover crop-based reduced tillage, soil health, and organic vegetable production.
She leads the UW Organic Grain project and develops extension resources on organic no-till systems. Current projects include interseeding cover crops, weed suppression strategies, and organic disease management.
Her work addresses barriers to organic transition through farmer-engaged research. Silva collaborates nationally on projects assessing soil microbial communities and climate-resilient practices.
