Her work demonstrates expertise in implementation science, with numerous studies examining how evidence-based practices can be effectively integrated into community settings serving children and families.
Dr. Barnett has secured substantial grant funding totaling millions of dollars from federal agencies including the US Department of Health and Human Services (SAMHSA, ACYF), the Department of Justice, and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. As an educator, Dr. Barnett serves as a Capstone Research Adviser and teaches Social and Behavioral Determinants of Health in the Master's of Public Health program. Her work has directly influenced practices and policies within multiple child-serving systems across New Hampshire and Vermont while building the evidence base for trauma-informed interventions and improving the skills of hundreds of students, trainees, and professionals.
Dr. Barnett is actively involved with the Dartmouth Trauma Interventions Research Center and Vulnerable Children's Research Group, where she collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement trauma-informed practices across multiple sectors serving children and families, including child welfare, mental health, education, and healthcare systems.
