Erin Jordan is an Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Iowa's School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She transitioned to academia after 24 years as an investigative reporter, most recently at The Gazette, where she specialized in agriculture-environment intersections. Her professional experience includes roles at The Des Moines Register and active involvement with Investigate Midwest and the Iowa Summer Journalism Workshop.
Before her academic role, Jordan's journalism career focused on exposing systemic issues in agricultural and environmental policy. She currently advises students through drop-in hours (Wednesdays 12pm-3pm) and contributes to the university's community engagement initiatives. Her office is located in E330 Adler Journalism Building.
Research interests include the ethical dimensions of investigative journalism, the impact of agricultural practices on ecosystems, and the evolving role of media in democratic societies. She emphasizes hands-on training for students through collaborative projects and industry partnerships.
