Erin Grey is an Assistant Professor of Aquatic Genetics at the School of Biology and Ecology, University of Maine. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2009. Her research investigates abiotic and biotic drivers of ecological change in aquatic ecosystems, utilizing methods ranging from plankton nets to environmental DNA/RNA technologies.
Current projects include developing eDNA methods for biodiversity surveys in vernal pools, assessing genetic connectivity of deep-sea ecosystems, studying larval transport under climate change, and modeling global invasive species spread via ship networks.
