Erin Gilbert

Erin Gilbert (she/her) is a Full-time Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Washington, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. Her expertise spans a wide array of literary periods and genres, including 19th-21st century literature, comparative literature, ecocriticism, and visual culture. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Washington, an M.F.A. in Fiction Writing and Literature from Bennington College, and a B.A. from Fairhaven College, Western Washington University.

Dr. Gilbert’s research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to literature, particularly exploring intersections between environmental studies and narrative forms. She teaches courses that reflect her commitment to creative writing, cross-cultural analysis, and the evolving role of literature in contemporary society. Her office is located in Padelford (LL) B 28, with regular office hours on Mondays from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, or by appointment.
