Erin Edgington is an Associate Professor of French and Chair of the World Languages & Literatures Department at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), within the College of Liberal Arts. She previously served as Assistant Director and Associate Dean of the Honors College. Edgington holds a Ph.D. in French Literature from Indiana University (2013) and a B.A. from UNR (2008). Her research focuses on 19th-century French poetry, visual/material culture, and language pedagogy, with a current book project on William Chapman. She has authored Fashioned Texts and Painted Books (2017) and edited Advising for Today’s Honors Students (2023).
Edgington advocates for accessible language education through initiatives like the Empowering French and Francophone Studies grant, which integrates Open Educational Resources into French courses. She oversees a state-wide concurrent enrollment program in French, Japanese, and Spanish. Professional roles include President of the Professional Language Association of Nevada and Board Member of the Alliance Française of Reno.
Her honors education work includes publications on internationalizing curricula and advising strategies. Edgington teaches courses ranging from introductory French to advanced literature seminars, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to language and culture.
