Dr Erika Sims is CTU Research Lead at Norwich Medical School and a member of the Population Health research group at the University of East Anglia. She leads operational aspects of the Norwich Clinical Trials Unit and contributes to research governance committees. With a PhD from the University of Manchester on epithelial tight junction regulation, her career spans roles as Operations Manager and Clinical Trials Project Manager.
Her research focuses on improving methodology for efficient trial delivery, particularly in primary care, care homes, and transitional care environments. Additional interests include health policy development for chronic disease diagnosis and management, with ongoing projects examining interventions to increase care home staff influenza vaccination rates and cognitive behavioral therapy for men with intellectual disabilities.
Dr Sims teaches research methodology within the MSc in Clinical Research program and mentors clinical trial units pursuing accreditation. She maintains active collaborations with the UKCRC CTU QA Forum and contributes to university research governance committees.
