Erik Sengers

Erik Sengers is a Professor at the Tilburg School of Catholic Theology, specializing in Military Spiritual Care within the Religion and Practice department. His work bridges theology, ethics, and military practices, focusing on moral formation in armed forces and peacebuilding post-conflict.

• Education: PhD in Theology (2003, Tilburg University), Master’s in Theology (1999, Tilburg School of Catholic Theology), and Political Science (1995, University of Amsterdam).

Research interests span Theology, Military Ethics, Christian Ethics, Peace Theology, and Conflict Resolution. His recent publications analyze the Bundeswehr’s corporate philosophy and the intersection of faith and modern warfare, emphasizing interoperability and moral resilience.

Activities include oral presentations on military service and Christian life (2025), consultancy for NATO-EU expert meetings (2024), and contributions to public discourse via media appearances. He supervises PhD students and engages in editorial work, notably on the Religie & Samenleving board (2009–2020).
