Erik Berge

Erik Berge is Associate Professor in the Section for Meteorology and Oceanography at the University of Oslo. His research focuses on atmospheric dispersion modeling, climate modeling, and nuclear preparedness systems.

Research develops and validates models for atmospheric transport of pollutants, particularly for radioactive materials. Key areas include deposition parameterizations, model intercomparisons, and ensemble forecasting techniques.

Publications frequently apply dispersion modeling to nuclear accident scenarios including Chernobyl and Fukushima. Recent work incorporates machine learning for solar resource mapping and improves wet deposition parameterizations.

Professor Berge contributes to national nuclear preparedness efforts through atmospheric transport modeling and participates in international model intercomparison projects.
