Erica Simoson

Dr. Erica Simoson is an Associate Professor and Department Coordinator in the Department of Physics at the State University of New York at Fredonia. She holds a Ph.D. from Colorado State University. Her teaching focuses on physics laboratory courses, including Modern Physics and Electronics, as well as introductory courses like Waves and Light (PHYS 131). She emphasizes experimental design and computational methods to enhance student learning. Dr. Simoson’s research specialization is in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics, with a focus on ion beam precision measurements of Rydberg spectroscopy to study fundamental ion properties. Her experimental work is conducted in the Ion Beam Spectroscopy lab located in the Science Center. She is a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers and the American Physical Society.
