Erica Petersen

Erica Petersen serves as a Visiting Instructor and Language Lab Instructor at Macalester College, teaching French and German languages from the Humanities Building. Her role encompasses language pedagogy and cultural immersion within the institution's language programs.

Her academic credentials include:

• M.Ed in Second Languages and World Cultures from the University of Minnesota
• B.A. in French from the University of Iowa
• Studies at Carel-Centre de langues Royan in France

Ms. Petersen specializes in language education with dual expertise in French and German studies, emphasizing cross-cultural communication through immersive methodologies. Her teaching philosophy builds bridges between cultures via linguistic engagement, drawing directly from personal immersion experiences in France, Spain, Cameroon, and Nigeria.

Beyond campus, she contributes to the Germanic American Institute in St. Paul as a German language instructor and volunteers weekly at "Our Village Reunion," a community food distribution initiative launched after the George Floyd protests in Minneapolis.
