About
Dr. Eric Wilcox is a Research Professor at the Desert Research Institute (DRI), affiliated with the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) as a graduate faculty member in the Atmospheric Sciences program. He directs the Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium, NASA EPSCoR programs, and the Airborne Systems Testing and Environmental Research (ASTER) Laboratory. His research focuses on aerosol-cloud interactions, remote sensing, and atmospheric modeling, with an emphasis on climate impacts and solar energy applications.
- PhD: Oceanography (2002, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD)
- B.S.: Physics (1995, University of California, San Diego)
Research Interests:
- Climate dynamics and radiative forcing of aerosols/clouds
- NASA-funded programs and STEM outreach
- Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) for environmental monitoring
Recent studies explore dust radiative effects on tropical weather patterns, aerosol impacts on cloud morphology, and solar energy applications. His work integrates satellite observations, numerical models, and field campaigns to advance climate science and renewable energy solutions.
