Eric Welch

Eric Welch is the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky in the Department of Pharmacy Sciences. His academic work bridges archaeology and history, focusing on political and economic transformations in the Near and Middle East during the Bronze and Iron Ages.

As a senior field archaeologist at the excavations of Tell es-Safi/Gath, Israel, Welch investigates ancient urban centers and material culture. His current research explores the Levantine consumption of olive oil as food, fuel, and a base for herbal remedies.
