Eric Shappee

Eric Shappee is a Professor of Aviation at the K-State Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus within Kansas State University. He has held significant administrative roles, including Director of Flight Operations and Acting Department Head for Aviation, and is actively engaged in teaching and research.

• Former Board of Trustees member for the University Aviation Association (UAA)

Research Interests: Eric's work focuses on aviation safety, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and risk assessment. He has developed risk assessment tools for K-State and other aviation organizations, attended the NTSB Academy, and contributed to advancing safety protocols in aviation operations.

Education:

• Associate degrees from Antelope Valley College (Lancaster, California)
• Bachelor's and Master's in Aeronautical Science and Safety from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Professional Experience: Active in aviation since 1986 and teaching since 1995, he holds a commercial pilot certificate with instrument, multiengine, and glider ratings, and is a certified flight instructor with a gold seal.
