Eric Sampson serves as an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Purdue University. Professor Sampson's scholarship confronts the unsettling possibility that humanity may be fundamentally mistaken about core values and beliefs. His publications systematically examine moral and political disagreement (particularly among philosophers), the invented vs. discovered nature of morality, arguments for/against moral nihilism, existential risk frameworks, epistemological dimensions of political partisanship, intellectual courage metrics, and ethical boundaries of academic inquiry. His work appears in premier philosophy journals including the Journal of Philosophy, Philosophical Studies, and Oxford Studies series.
