About
Eric Ross is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Gonzaga University. His research spans analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and environmental science, focusing on lipid membrane interactions, chromatographic methodologies, and wildfire impacts on water quality.
- Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Arizona, B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Kansas.
Dr. Ross leads interdisciplinary projects funded by the USDA, NSF, and Research Corporation, including wildfire effects on municipal water quality and advanced chromatographic techniques for lipid membrane studies. His work addresses challenges in environmental contaminant detection, metal ion binding, and membrane mimetic materials.
Using chromatography and microcontact printing, his group develops novel methods for lipid bilayer analysis and three-dimensional chemical patterning. Current efforts involve EPA method adaptations, detection of haloacetic acids, cyanotoxins, and volatile organics at sub-ppb levels.
- Courses Taught: General Chemistry, Quantitative Chemical Analysis, Instrumental Analysis, Unified Laboratory I, Chem Bibliography.
