Eric Nay

Eric Nay is an Associate Professor at OCAD University, jointly affiliated with the Faculty of Arts & Science and Faculty of Design since 2006. He also teaches human geography in the Department of Geography and the Environment at Mt. Allison University and serves as a visiting lecturer at the Daniels School of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Design at the University of Toronto, where he earned his PhD. His expertise spans architectural history, design theory, and environmentalism through a post-colonial lens.

Eric’s research intersects design, sustainability, and social justice in the built environment, with grant-funded work involving organizations like ICOMOS Germany and the Irish Architecture Foundation. He has published in journals such as Folk, Knowledge, Place (China), docomomo (US), and Open House International (UK), with editorial contributions supported by the Graham Foundation.

His publications focus on themes like decolonizing architectural pedagogy, critical heritage, and the socio-political dimensions of modern architecture. These works span disciplines including architectural theory, environmental policy, and post-colonial studies, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach.
