About
Eric M. Edlund is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Physics at State University of New York at Cortland (SUNY Cortland), currently on sabbatical for the Fall 2025 semester. His office is located in Bowers Hall, room 133, with contact via email or phone.
Dr. Edlund specializes in orbital mechanics, developing an educational orbital intercept simulator that challenges users to calculate trajectories for intercepting the International Space Station (ISS) using parameters like delta (0.20) and alpha (260.1 degrees). His research includes theoretical solutions for both whole orbits and fractional orbits, as detailed in publications referenced through his simulator project. This work bridges computational physics and aerospace engineering applications.
