Eric Kimathi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Global Development and Planning, University of Agder. His research focuses on migration integration, early childhood education, and development aid in the Global South. He holds a PhD in Sociology and Social Work from the University of Agder, with additional qualifications in International Development and Early Childhood Studies from multiple institutions.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as UT-107: Power, Resistance, and Development, and UT 114: Culture and Development. He also supervises bachelor’s and master’s theses. Research groups include Childhood and Society, Institutional Ethnography, and Mobility, Culture, and Gender. Current projects involve sustainable development in kindergartens through the Regkomp initiative.
Publications emphasize refugee integration in education systems, methodological approaches in ethnography, and sociological analyses of childhood. He serves as an external examiner for the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU).
