Prof. Enocent Msindo is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Rhodes University, RSA, and currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. He holds a BA (History and Philosophy) from the University of Zimbabwe, an MPhil and PhD in History from the University of Cambridge, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education (PgDHE) from Rhodes University.
His research focuses on African social and political history, with emphasis on ethnicity, nationalism, chieftaincy, and marginalization in precolonial, colonial, and post-colonial contexts. His notable work includes the monograph Ethnicity in Zimbabwe (2012), analyzing identity transformations in Kalanga and Ndebele societies.
He is an NRF-rated researcher and has contributed extensively to understanding socio-political dynamics in Southern Africa. His academic leadership roles include heading the Department of History before becoming Dean.
