English Sall, PhD, is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health, and an Adjunct Professor at Meredith College's Industrial and Organizational Psychology Masters Program. They hold a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from NC State University. Their research focuses on the intersection of health informatics, community health acceleration, and gender justice, with a particular interest in leveraging technology and policy to improve healthcare equity. Sall co-founded Embark, a Gender Justice initiative, and has served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Carolina Health Informatics Program and as a Visiting Research Fellow at Duke University's Center for Advanced Hindsight.
Research interests include healthcare cost reduction strategies, disparities in cardiovascular care outcomes, and policy evaluation related to hospice care, Medicare/Medicaid programs, and sugar-sweetened beverage taxation. Their work has been published in leading journals across public health, health economics, and clinical medicine.
Recent studies examine the impact of atrial fibrillation treatment pathways in emergency departments, racial disparities in PCI outcomes, and cost-benefit analyses of tax policies targeting unhealthy beverages. Sall's interdisciplinary approach bridges organizational psychology, health informatics, and community-based interventions to address systemic healthcare challenges.
Labs/Teams: Core contributor to the Gillings School's Health Informatics Program and affiliated with Duke's Social Science Research Institute. Collaborations include the Community Health Acceleration Partnership (CHAP) and the National Academy of Medicine's caregiver policy initiatives.
