About
Dr. Enda Murphy is an Assistant Professor in Coastal Engineering at UBC's Department of Civil Engineering. With 17 years of research experience, he develops numerical models for sustainable coastal management.
Research focuses on:
- Trans-disciplinary approaches to coastal hazard risk reduction
- Nature-based flood protection systems
- Hydrodynamic modeling of wave-structure interactions
- Climate resilience strategies for coastal communities
Recent publications examine living dyke systems using scaled surrogate vegetation and Lagrangian particle-tracking models for driftwood transport. His work advances predictive capabilities for coastal flooding scenarios under climate change.
Prior to UBC, he was a senior research engineer at Canada's National Research Council Ocean, Coastal and River Engineering Research Centre. He holds a PhD from the University of Ottawa and master's from MIT.
