Emrah Kotan

Emrah Kotan is a Professor at Jacksonville State University, teaching Jazz Drum set and World Percussion while directing the Jazz Combo. He simultaneously serves as Director of Jazz and World Percussion Ensembles at Agnes Scott College. A classically trained percussionist from Turkey, he holds a Master's in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University.

His research explores the integration of Turkish rhythms with jazz harmonies and world music elements, creating cross-cultural musical expressions. Performance credits include renowned venues like Montreux Jazz Festival and collaborations with Grammy-winning artists India.Arie and Jennifer Holliday.

As an educator, he has conducted master classes internationally and mentors students of all ages. He endorses Pearl drums and serves as a Recording Academy voting member.
