Emmy Ludwig

Dr. Emmy Ludwig is an Associate Physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) specializing in gastroenterology with a focus on hereditary cancer syndromes and colorectal diseases. She holds expertise in endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy, polypectomy, and feeding tube placement. Her clinical practice emphasizes patient-centered care, prioritizing patient anxiety relief and holistic well-being.

Dr. Ludwig earned her MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed her residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia, and her fellowship at MSKCC. Her research interests include hepatitis B virus screening in cancer patients, endoscopic management of gastrointestinal malignancies, and improving cancer surveillance protocols. She has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on topics like colorectal cancer surveillance, endoscopic stents, and viral reactivation prevention.

She is the first member of MSK’s Gastroenterology & Nutrition Service to join the Ethics Committee, advocating for ethical considerations in gastrointestinal care. Her awards include multiple Castle Connolly honors, such as America’s Top Doctor (2024) and Exceptional Women in Medicine (2023). She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams including oncologists, surgeons, and radiologists at MSKCC to provide comprehensive patient care.

Dr. Ludwig remains committed to advancing clinical research and patient education, particularly in gastrointestinal oncology and endoscopy. Outside medicine, she enjoys reading, yoga, and spending time with her family.
