Emmanuelle Chevreau is Professor of Legal History and Vice President for International Affairs at Paris-Panthéon-Assas University. Her scholarship focuses on Roman law traditions, Greco-Roman commercial practices, and the historical foundations of European private law. Dr. Chevreau directs the Jean Gaudemet Institute of Legal History and co-leads dual-degree programs with Sorbonne Université.
She holds a doctorate in law and teaches historical foundations of legal systems. Research encompasses:
- Roman maritime trade regulations
- Reception of Roman jurisprudence in modern codes
- Legal anthropology of Mediterranean mobility
Publications include studies on ancient contractual norms and legal education reform. As CNU Section President (2015-2019), she shaped French academic policy. Current roles include editorial boards for Romanist journals and Chilean research councils.
Dr. Chevreau coordinates international research partnerships while examining legal acculturation processes.
