Emmanuel Peprah

Dr. Emmanuel Peprah is Associate Professor of Global and Environmental Health at NYU School of Global Public Health, focusing on implementation science approaches to improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations. His research examines contextual factors influencing comorbidities in people living with HIV/AIDS, particularly cardiovascular disease risk and mental health. He develops strategies for integrating noncommunicable disease management into HIV care using existing global health infrastructure.

With national and international collaborations, his work addresses the growing dual burden of communicable and noncommunicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries. Prior to NYU, he was a senior program official at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he managed strategic planning and implementation of research priorities in translational research and global health. He oversaw HIV/AIDS programs and a $10 million portfolio within the Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine Program.

Dr. Peprah played a key role in launching the Human, Heredity, and Health in Africa (H3Africa) Initiative and served on its executive board. He founded the Baakoye Foundation serving sub-Saharan Africa and co-founded the Washington Leaders Index to develop emerging leaders. His nonprofit work focuses on improving health and education outcomes in resource-limited settings.
