Emmanuel F. Koku

Emmanuel Koku is an Associate Professor and Department Head of Sociology at Drexel University, with graduate faculty appointments in Communication, Culture & Media. His research focuses on social networks, sexual health behaviors, and knowledge dissemination.

His work examines socio-demographic determinants of HIV risk in Africa, lived experiences of persons with HIV, and professional networks of researchers and policymakers. He collaborates with the Office of Minority Health addressing health disparities in African immigrant communities.

Recent research explores PrEP information diffusion among women who inject drugs, misinformation about HPV vaccines on social media, and social factors influencing HIV risk perceptions.
