Emma Wear

Emma Wear serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Lewis & Clark College, with her office located in Biology-Psychology 221 (MSC: 53) on the Undergraduate Campus in Portland, Oregon.

As a marine microbial ecologist, Dr. Wear's research investigates the factors controlling composition and activity of non-photosynthetic bacterial and archaeal communities in marine environments. Her work emphasizes the role of dissolved organic matter—including seawater compounds like sugars and proteins—as primary resources consumed by these microorganisms, alongside spatial distribution studies in the deep sea and California coastal waters.
