Dr. Emma Ward is a Research Fellow at Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia, with membership in the Centre for Research on Children and Families and Lifespan Health research groups. She holds a Social Science PhD from UEA and previously completed the BSc Psychosocial Sciences program at the same institution.
Her research investigates addiction with particular focus on electronic cigarettes, postnatal smoking cessation, relapse prevention, COVID-19 health behaviors, and vulnerable populations including children with care experience. She employs mixed methods approaches including Ecological Momentary Assessment, ethnographic observations, and randomized controlled trials.
Dr. Ward contributes to teaching in the SSF MRes program and previously worked with the UEA Centre for Research on Children and Families from 2006-2017. Her research projects include studies on neonatal smoking cessation interventions, vaping trajectories, and support for LGBTQ+ young people in care systems.
