About
Emma Persson is an Associate Professor at the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics (USBE) at Umeå University, specializing in the Statistics department. Her research focuses on causal inference methodologies in observational studies and case-control designs, particularly applied to diabetes research. She has contributed to studies on diabetes-related health outcomes, including renal complications, cancer risk, and school performance impacts, often leveraging Swedish national register data for large-scale analyses.
Her work emphasizes methodological advancements in statistical causal modeling, including dimension reduction algorithms and covariate selection techniques for estimating causal effects. She has developed the R package CovSel to facilitate covariate selection in causal effect estimation. Persson has also participated in research projects like the 'Risk factors of childhood diabetes and its complications' (2012–2014) under the Stat4Reg research group.
