Emma Pearce

Dr Emma Pearce (she/her) is a Lecturer in Design History & Theory at the Glasgow School of Art, specializing in art and design history from c.1750 to the present day. Her research focuses on Scottish textiles like tartan, colonialism, material culture, and intersections of gender/white colonial masculinity with animal-derived objects.

• MA in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art

• Visual culture and gender studies

Grants and Collaborations: Supported by the British Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, Pasold Trust, Yale Center for British Art, and Winterthur Museum. Current PGR supervision interests include textile history, colonialism, and material culture.
