Emma Murphy

Dr. Emma Murphy is a Research Fellow at the PRISM Institute within Technological University of the Shannon's Faculty of Engineering and Informatics. Her multidisciplinary research program spans sustainable polymer development, pharmaceutical applications of natural polysaccharides, and environmental bioremediation.

Research Focus: Primary investigations include: 1) Bio-based polymer synthesis from renewable resources (hemp oil, Camelina oil), 2) Mucoadhesive drug delivery systems using chitosan-polyacrylate complexes, 3) Environmental monitoring through shellfish biomarkers, and 4) Gut microbiome modulation using algal polysaccharides.
