About
Emma Matcham is Assistant Professor in the Agronomy Department at the University of Florida, where she researches nutrient cycling and agroecosystem resilience under changing climate conditions. As a Certified Crop Advisor, she employs systems approaches to improve fertilizer management and reduce environmental impacts in agricultural systems.
Her research focuses on climate adaptation strategies, precision agriculture technologies, and on-farm participatory trials to enhance nutrient use efficiency. Current projects investigate micronutrient management in peanuts, nitrogen optimization in silage corn, and potassium timing effects on sandy soils.
Matcham develops computational tools like the cleanRfield R package for agricultural data processing and creates extension materials for precision farming. She collaborates on multi-state research projects examining soybean responses to sulfur and nitrogen across diverse U.S. environments.
Her extension program delivers in-service training on geospatial data interpretation and supports county agents in addressing precision agriculture challenges.
