Emma Heaney is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Faculty Advisor in Experimental Writing at New York University’s College of Arts & Science, within the Experimental Humanities & Social Engagement program. She holds a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Smith College and a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Irvine. Her research bridges comparative literature, feminist studies, trans studies, and Marxist theory, focusing on the transformation of queer and trans identities across modernist works.
Her major publications include *The New Woman* (2017), analyzing trans feminine allegories in modernist works, and the edited collection *Feminism Against Cisness* (2023), which critiques cisnormative ideologies.
