About
Dr Emma Buckley is the Deputy Head of School and Senior Lecturer in the School of Classics at the University of St Andrews. She is affiliated with the St Andrews Centre for the Receptions of Antiquity and the Institute of Medieval Studies. Her research focuses on early Roman imperial poetry and classical culture's influence in early modern England, employing close textual analysis and historicist cultural theory. Her publications reflect interdisciplinary approaches to classical and early modern studies, emphasizing textual analysis and cultural context.
She has led research projects such as “Autocracy: Leadership, Ancient and Modern” (2020–2021) and participated in international conferences and workshops, including the “Next Generation of Classical Reception Studies” (2024). Her academic activities span peer reviewing, invited lectures, and collaborative editing initiatives.
