Dr. Emma Brown is a Lecturer in Health Psychology at Lancaster Medical School, part of Lancaster University's Faculty of Health and Medicine. She joined in 2023 after roles as Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University and Liverpool John Moores University, and as Senior Research Associate at the University of East Anglia. Previously, she worked as a Specialist Smoking Cessation Practitioner.
Education: PhD Psychology (University of Manchester, 2017), MSc Health Psychology (Liverpool John Moores University, 2013), BSc Neuropsychology (University of Central Lancashire, 2010).
Research focuses on health behavior change, digital health interventions, self-management strategies, and addressing health inequalities. Current teaching includes problem-based learning for MBChB programs and contributions to the Health, Culture and Society theme.
Key publication explores smoking cessation in incarcerated populations using self-incentives. Awards include Chartered Psychologist status and Associate Fellowship of the British Psychological Society.
Active in the Interdisciplinary network in culture, health, ethics and society research group.
