Dr. Emma Björner is a Researcher in Marketing at the University of Gothenburg's Department of Business Administration (School of Business, Economics, and Law). She specializes in sustainable place and destination branding, focusing on co-creation, digitalization, and food systems. She holds a PhD in Business Administration from Stockholm University and has held roles including Senior Lecturer at Lund University and Sustainability Consultant.
Her research explores urban governance in Chinese mega-cities, digital festival engagement, and sustainable tourism. She coordinates Eutopia’s Tourism & Experiences network and develops tourism initiatives in southwest Sweden’s blue economy. Key projects include evaluating Gothenburg’s destination development and analyzing Halland’s food systems and rural entrepreneurship.
